Sound like your clutch quadrant just broke.. Do you still have the stock one?

It is under the dash above the pedals. It is what the cable is hooked to. So if you push it to the floorthe carstill moves or does not move?

Try pulling up on your clutch pedal with your hand a couple timesit should click click. That is a way to let some cable out.

only use the OEM cables the aftermarkets are peices of crap. get a OEM cable with a aluminum quadrant and a firewall adjuster to allow adjustablity.

have someone pry the clutch fork forward and shift through the gears

if it's smooth, the cable is probably stretched

if it's still hard, the clutch is probably smoked

gtpcoupe is right about this. MAKE SURE you get aluminum quadrant. I had the same problems you were having, 3 times in 2 years before i finally got fed up and looked into and found out it's a known issue, that they put a crappy plastic quadrant in at the factories back then. I had to go to a ford racing dealer that was about an hour drive but worth it. No problems ever since.
