IMO 351 in the end it has more room to grow, a 351 picks up where the 347 leaves off

Go with the 351....much stronger & will last longer than the 347....I would punch it out to a 358 or stroke to a 383 IMO!

347 ci vs. 351 ci?

A 347 will make more power, no doubt.

all depends on the build, I've see 351's posting up faster et's and dyno numbers than mine

Gotcha, as anything can vary.

However, if you install the same top-end on the 347 and the 351, the 347 will make more power and run faster ET's (if that is more important).

It's a trade off. Both engines will have their draw backs and advantages. You have to decide what you need/want.

351 Pros: Stock bore and stroke, stock length rods, stock replacement pistons - makes for a cheaper build. No block mods. No overbore. Plenty of room to grow. Also has a longer stroke, so it can make more low end torque. But the longer stroke decreases it's rpm potential.

Cons: Taller, wider, and heavier. Needs differant exhaust, intake, front dress, oil pan, oil pump, and distributer.

If I had the ability to create hood clearance and I can't due to special paint code and I no longer have the custom mix, I'd still take a 351 based build stroked

a 351 with the same stuff as a 347, should make more hp...more cubes, more air, more power, more stroke sucking air...

anyways, the 351 in stock form isnt bad at all. in order to spin more stroke and bore higher in the rpms, rotating weight needs to less, thats why a diesel couldnt spin to 10k rpms, you cant control that much weight that fast without something giving way.

351, stock, plus a turbo or 2 = alot of fun, ask r.barn, he knows. his might have heads or something...
