Default just got a 87

just picked me up an 87 ALL STOCK with 121k on it, no smoke, no noises etc. thank god.

what are some things i should look at or check before i start tearing into it?

i plan on going with my GT40 heads, maybe a GT40 intake, e or f cam, longtubes - and running maybe a wet 100 shot on it, anyone think it will hold up or?

yes but if it's speed density still I'd look into a maf conversion

i'm thinking of going to a carb setup on it since it's most likely speed density ( id on't pick up the car for another few days) already got the intake manifold, and carb but what else do i have to swap over? i got a regulator but it's for a non return setup and iw as wondering if theres any way i can cap off the return line from the tank and run a new inlet line all the way up to a mechanical pump or what..

also for the distributor, how do i get that thing firing, since i'll have to use an older distributor from my 67 302 original (new though) how do i get the coil firing and all that jazz? also do i leave the computer in or take it out?

leave the computer in so you can still use ur pwr accessories, cruise, things liek that. the motor should hold up to that shot just fine as long as its installed right. and if your going carb you'd have to get a 6al ignition or one of that sort and a diff style coil(i think) and that will feed the dizzy.

depending on your budget if you want to go cheap you'll need the duraspark ignition set up from an 85 = dizzy , coil and box, or if budget is of no concern msd all the way and if you don't want to run a return cap it off at the tank and just remove the ecm and harness = not necessary for operation of sub systems on the car
