its not huge but there is certainly a difference. If you want to swap go for it, there are tons of kits out there.

There are also many ways to give the slushy AOD some kick. Do the valve body, torque converter, etc and it will make a HUGE difference.... or you can do a C4 or a built AOD w/ a reverse manual VB or something of that sort... there are many options.

A manual transmission will run faster than an automatic, however an automatic will be much more consistent. If you're doing bracket racing of any sory this will be a key factor in winning and losing races. I have an AOD and am very happy with that. As said before there are ways to improve an AOD such as a torque converter and all that good stuff. The best way I've found to run an AOD is by leaving it in D. It will shift at 5,000 rpms on it's own. You could also manually shift through the gears in an AOD using the AOD shuffle which will allow you to hold 2nd gear.

THE aod's first gear ratio is 2.40 vs the t-5's 3.35, a 5 speed will be quicker but equip a aod with the right stuff and it can be fun too

have fun with the "AOD shuffle".... say goodbye to your trans. Maybe not that one time but keep doing it and its bound to happen, seen it done many times.
