Default power windows and locks to manual

Whats up guys! Im brand new to the forum ive been searching around but i cant seem to find any info on the topic. I have a 95 convertible and my plans for the pony right now are to save weight. So the deal is i have power windows and locks and i want to convert them to manual. If anyone could provide a link to a thread or some info on the topic that would be awesome.

I believe that you are going to have problems. I have never seen a SN95 vert with manual windows and locks. problem is the regulators are different between a vert and a coupe. You might be able to figure it out but going to take a lot of fab work. Good luck

they did make a stripped down GT version in 95 that had manual windows, I can't remember what the designation was now but they were rare.

I believe the stripped down model was a coupe car not a vert... regulators are different in a vert.

With the work involved, there are many other options to shed weight (alot more weight than manual windows). There is a tech article on this, check it out... its in the stickies.

thanks for the input...the reason i want to do it is more so i can put lexan windows in than to save the weight on the power accessories

ive heard its much more plausible doing lexan with roll down windows

pretty sure it was only offered in a coupe version also...do you know what makes the regulators different so that they wont fit? And how much fabbing it would take?

for one, lexan windows are pretty expensive and im pretty sure they're not legal are they? I would definitely put my money elsewhere before doing all that.

I think its legal in NY not sure...my brother hasnt had a problem yet tho he recently put lexan in his 92 taurus SHO and its really not that expensive especially for the weight you could save that stuff is light as a feather...cheaper than doing a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood and could probably save more weight than a hood too
