hey guys I just got into this mustang thing I bought a 89 5.0 convertable LX and it tops out at 110MPH my friend who owned the car befor me said there is something wrong with the tranny like the overdrive is not kicking in I need to know if there is a factory setting and if there is can I get a chip for it and if not what can I do to go faster it has all the power but no top end </P>

Dan, have you ever been cruising down the freeway, bouncing off the speed limiter, and had a 70 year old man in a Saturn pass you? I have (in my '98 Impreza that was limited to 112). I will never forget the grin on that dude's face.
Sometimes we just want to go fast.
And my 91 vert didn't limit until I started messing with the Tweecer and forgot how to remove the 126mph limit. (set it to 126.5 or something) I had set it to 1mph (it wouldn't let me drive) and again to 40 (forgot until I pulled onto the freeway)
Right now I don't think I've got a limit at all other than drag.

MY 88 GT CONV. 5.0 HAS NO PROBLEM PASSING 110 , BUT IT GETS SCARY UP IN THAT SPEED RANGE. WHAT GEARS ARE YOU RUNNING. MY 5.0 JUST GOES UNTIL YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT!! I SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR @ 75MPH

82tg i had a speeding ticket faster than that. and i am now just comming off of probation for that not to mention the amount of money i spent in court and when i look back on it. it was not worth it. Not just the money and timespent with the ordeal but the lives that i endangered not to mention my own and that was just uncalled for on my behalf. yeah it was fun until the blue light got me. what if somebody had pulled out in front of me or an animal ran in front of me. it would have killed me and anybody around me.
