Default t5 rebuild problem :(

I took apart my t5 to replace 2nd gear. But thats not the problem lol. Everything was going back together just fine but..... I didnt mark the way they go back . My problem is the sleeve synchronizer for 3rd - 4th. I dont know which way it goes back. Every manual says to put it back the way u marked it, but what if you didnt mark it lol, then what? Its number 80 in the diagram. It has a factory mark on it, a X on one side

the bevel faces the input shaft and if you look inside the slider there is 3 notched teeth every 1/3rd way around the slider. you should slide it on so the detents are in the center notch.

I doubt the shift fork is bent, that'd affect more than just one gear and it'd cause binding........you need to inspect the 2nd gear synchronizer hub for mushroomed teeth and the inside of the slider at the ends where the gear hub mates for broken teeth or chepped teeth, also end play should be checked on the counter gear

There is some links to pictures of sleeve..... Im just not sure which way it goes back, notice on picture has a side view, one side of sleeve has a slight slope to it unlike the other. there is a x on the other side, not side with slope.

looks like you forgot to put the detent retaining ring on the slider hub. dont forget to do that otherwise you'll be tearing it down again

What evidence is there that the bevel has to go towards the input shaft? The service manual says nothing of this.
