Default Starter Solenoid question

Probably a really stupid question here... I messed up the wires to my starter solenoid and need some help. Looking at the battery from the drivers side, which side of the solenoid do the wires go? Do any of them go on the same side as the positive battery cable? I have tried a couple of different ways without luck. When I connect the battery cables the starter wants to crank. Tx

Tx...exactly what I needed, however, I now have a different question. Does it matter which post on the starter that the big wire goes to? Also, I have 2 wires coming up from my starter, is the smaller one a ground? Tx

If you have 2 wires to the starter you'll need to follow this diagram then.
