You set the timing to 36 with the spout out and ran it like that? Did you just initially check your timing or did you completly reset it? It backfires out the exhaust right?

yeah it runs awesome without the spout in, before I used to run 14 degrees base then plug the spout in

Try getting a new spout connector?

Have you been able to see what the timing is when it backfires or is it just while driving?

well with the spout in the computer controls the timing with it out I control the timing.. im just going to leave it the way it is

the computer will not adjust the timing curve under a load with the spout out. essentially you will be running your base timing throughout your entire RPM band, which obviously is not a good idea.

Mine ran like that at 14 degrees for the longest time because I couldn't get the vac advance to function properly and I didn't have any problems. But EFI is a little more sensitive I guess too

What dizzy do you have in there? Drop in another one and see what happpens.
Hell try pulling that one out and restabbing it from scratch.
I had a weird problem with mine awhile back that caused it to back fire some and I just pulled it and reset the timing.

stock reman dizzy from napa, and if the dizzy were the problem wouldnt you think it would still be happening?
