oil pan removal?

Default oil pan removal?

ok so i started taking out the oil pan with the motor still in the car...the motor is jacked up to as far as possible...both motor mounts are completly removed and i took off the oil pump and pick up and the problem i am having is that i cant get it past the bell housing (auto tranny) its getting hung up on that and the k member and vertualy no room to squeeze it threw, i'v heard its possible but i cant get it out.....any help would be great

you can take it out the front if you remove the steering rack, ive also done it by removing the transmission...

yeah im gonna try to avoid removing the tranny....i might as well just take the motor out if i gotta remove the tranny lol....i just recently took out the rack so i think thats my best bet...now what about the stablizer bar...wouldnt that be in the way?

loosen k-member bolts to drop it a few inches more, done it before

easier said then done lol....they look kinda ruff...the last thing i want is to snap one....if im gonna have to go as far as removing the k member and or tranny, i might as well just take the motor out, thats the easiest option....it was already a pain just to fight with a couple of those pan bolts

well the pan is pretty ruffed up from the endless years of abuse (past owners) and theres a tiny hole in the hump of the pan, so it needs to come out and im changing the pump and pick up wile im in there and if worse comes to worse and the motor does need to come out...im gonna change the rear main wile im at it

you don't need to remove k-member!!!I used an impact on my 85 and they never broke and looked like crap, you do one at a time then thread it back in a little and often times it'll give you the little extra clearance needed, if not thread rod and washers for extra clearance.
