Default do i need a hood latch when i have hood pins?

i am planning on painting my engine bay and i was wondering if i need to have the hood latch on my car when i already have hood pins installed...i have a 4 inch fiberglass hood.

im not runnin a latch, just pins, i think imma try to find something like a small padlock or something to lock it, but no you dont NEED a latch, and yes i know a padlock would look dumb but its a quick easy fix

i knew a dude with no latch just pins and i dont know if it was a poorly made fiberglass hood or what but the hood ripped open right through the pins smashed the window roof it was not pretty and very expensive to fix ...

No, you just have to make sure the hood pins are adjusted down far enough to keep the hood down tight.

if i do recall, they make some hood pin/locks with keys that you have to physically unlock to get the hood open, but if i was going to run regular pins, i would have the latch just in case

Topnotch is right, you can pickup a set of locking hoodpins. They have a special key, pretty badass. Not too expensive either.

you should keep your latch... many of the retards on this forum have closed their hoods in haste and not pinned them... and 15 seconds down the road.. WHAM!!!

new hood and alot of body work later, and I still cal them idiots
