stroker build.
hey guys, i got a stock HO block with plans of a 347 within the next year.. im in college so money is somewhat tight. i was thinking Steel crank with somekind of forged piston. around 11:1 compression with either AFR's or Patriots 185's or 205's. (cash says which one) havent heard a whole lot on partiots but from what i have heard theyre good..
not going to worry about cam till later in the build, but it will be big,
either edelbrock or trick flow intake. with a 70mm throttle body bolted onto it.
the part im pretty hazy on is injectors pumps and MAF.
i can get 30lb injectors for a deal with a 75mm maf programmed for it. is tht too much fuel or....??????? for a pump maybe a 255lph or 290lph???
looking for a solid 400hp 7-7500rpm SBF
any input is appreciated.

not necesarrily 7500 but high rpms. at 7000. yeah i was going to go solid roller as long as it works good with the computer and fuel injection, and i cant think of any reason why it wouldnt??

well let me put it this way.. i currently have a 347, the old combo made 380/430 it conisisted of trick flow high ports, systemax intake, xe274hr cam, shortie headers. etc
new combo will be ported high ports, custom grind cam, spyder intake, 90mm tb,95 mm maf, long tubes.. etc the car will be shifted at 6500 and its staying a hydraulic roller
my point here is do it right the first time so your not like me and re doing most of it a year later, and you can make good power from a hydraulic roller without reving it to the moon. Plus stock computers do have a rev limiter so you better plan on how your going to beat the 6250 limit

i see your point for sure, but im not looking for anything over 450hp cause then im goin through a tranny every weekend. i figured if stay close to 400hp then im only going trough stok trannies every second weekend if im nice lol. plus it'll be pretty hard to get that much real power to the ground with a stock susp. with a lowering kit.

You need to back up and regroup this entire plan. There is nothing Budget about a 7000-7500 rpm engine. You have your expectaions set to high for limited funds. My suggestions would be to stroke it and build for torque instead of mega rpm. High rpm street cars are normally pigs on the street.

why are high rpm motors such pigs on the street??? i have a buddy with a 7000+rpm sbc which is daily driver. Big cam, idles at like 1100rpm. not the nicest but it works

Usually high rpm/big cam engines have streetability issues such as bad low end torque at low rpms (like street crusing), along with accessory issues due to crappy vacuum. Like previously stated, you are much better off stroking it, and using a milder cam. You'll have more usable torque over a broader range, and you will enjoy your ride much more.
