Default Confused

Hey guys I took your advice on trying to reset the base idle instead of using an adjustable fuel pressure reg, which is way better than spending 70 bucks. However, I am still running into the same problem after trying to reset the computer.
So heres what I did...on my brothers performance 65mm tb there are two hex screws underneath the tps so instead of messing with the tps too much I adjusted the position of the whole plate it sits on to .98 which from what I understand is optimal.
Next I disconnected both battery cables and the IAC and waited the 30 minutes and tried to adjust the idle screw on the tb and with the IAC unplugged it didnt run at all.
So am I doing somthing wrong or is it supposed to do that? Is there a different way to do it on a non mass air 5.0?
The only mods I have are a ford racing ac elim, k and n cold air intake and the 65mm tb and egr spacer.
It run perfectly before this there was no idle problem
Any and all advice is appreciated.

when i go to start it up, if it dies i turn up the idle until it stays running. I even gave it a little gas before and that worked. When i do it now, before i even try to start it i crank up the idle so i won't die.

The "optimality" of the .98 vdc setting is a fallacy, follow this base idle reset procedure.... any reading from the TPS between .6 - 1.1 vdc is fine.
