Default Buying an 89

**Not sure if in the right section**

Well as the title says i am going to be getting an 89 hatch, on thursday for 100 bucks from my uncle. the motor hasnt been ran in about a year, but thats not scaring me as i am very capable of getting them running with out a problem.

The car is in decently rough shape but i wanted to know what are signs that i should look for that would make me stay away, even for 100 bucks. I know that it is a clean title and such. I just need to know what are tell tale signs of *bad News*. I will look over the all the crosmembers and such...

What else should i look for besides the normal gas engine give aways...

at a 100 bucks your not out anything, just go for it, you could part it out and easily make your money back

buy it, for a summer project 100 bucks is perfect, means it prolly has enough problems to keep you occupied all summer haha, all seriousness i'd look for rust, i bought my 87' for 300 and it has kept me more then occupied (and satisfied) fixing everything has been fun and a great educator, but rust its't fun to deal with. might also want to check the chassis and c how the tranny shifts if its manual. Other then that buy it, only 100 bucks, and like mjr46 said if you buy it and find out later somethings really f'd u can always part it out and make some good money, buy it and enjoy it, and make sure to take a lot of progression pictures! good luck

100 bucks buy it...its worth it all in all unless the torque boxes are badly ripped out of place...other than that even if the motor and trans are out 300-500 is worth a runnning car
