I didn't even use my haynes. It's basically unbolt the filler tube, unbolt the tank straps, disconnect the fuel lines.
Replace the filter while your in there.
Don't screw up reconnecting the lines, they are pretty easy but then again not idiot proof.

I can't remember if these have a lock ring, I would think so. Just use a screw driver and hammer and gently tap on the tabs of the lock ring. Don't do it too hard or you will destroy them. But otherwise you can go buy a lock ring tool(waste of $).

Very easy job over all. As noted, the hardest part 100% is the fuel in the tank. You will be suprised at how even with little weight in there of fuel, when it moves around its very hard to hold in place/control. So just do your best to remove all the fuel in there.
Yes there is a locking ring, but you can use a screw driver and knock it loose. Many guys worry about spark, so cover the screw driver tip with a rag and you will be spark free when you strike the lock ring.
Job is super easy if you have a lift (but what isn't when you have a lift).

the gas is pretty low, no problem there so far. the tank is hanging down, just didnt know how to get the filler tube off the tank till Im reading that you pull up from the top (the gas tank door area).

so I still cant get the tube to come off the tank. do I need another person to pull as I pull on the tank?
its sealed onto the tank, will I have to get another seal once this is broken or will it work okay?

in the picture remove the bracket that holds the tube in place, as well as the screws behind the gas door and then the tube should just kinda move freely, theres nothing that holds it into the tank just slides into that rubber seal
