5.0 question for a classic

1997-up 5.0 explorers have gt-40p heads. they out flow gt-40 heads and are a great low budget upgrade. the downfall is the spark plug angle. you either have to buy gt-40p specific headers or use MAC longtubes

I honestly dislike almost every convertible car out there, but you've done an awesome job on yours. Absolutely stunning.
- to go along with your question, I say just get a new set of heads. That 351 will always be better than a 302 if you give it the right parts. You're walking backwards going with a 302 when you've already got a solid motor to work with.

Yeah, you could use port tongue inserts to close out the dead spots in the port design, the performance gains would be very noticeable. If you want a decent head for a somewhat low cost you could get Edelbrock's C heads, but I've heard mixed reviews on them. If you want a real street beast, then just do something simple for now like port tongues until you can get some better heads.

delta, thanks for the compliment... i have put some (alot) of effort into her. i am just trying to work the bugs out now.
rmodel, i have looked up the tongue plates and they seem very reasonable and looks as though that will be my next project. $89 for the intake and exhaust set. not bad for an advertised 20hp/20-25tq increase.
thanks for the info.
