Default Cold Air Intake for Carb'd 85

I'm looking for a way to get some cooler air into my carb in my 85 GT. Would be nice if it were some type of Ram Air setup. I have very limited hood clearance and intend to stay with the stock hood. I am currently using a 14" Ford Racing open air cleaner with K&N filter and I feel the carb needs more air. Does anyone know of a company that makes a cold air setup for a carb'd car? Or, has anyone come up with some unique way of getting more (cooler) air into the carb?

The only way you are going to get cold air into there is with a scoop.

Look in Summit Racing I think they have one, but I really doubt you see much of a gain from it, maybe 1 hp. That open element air filter will flow enough air to support well over 500hp.

275 RWHP going to put more jet into the carb and I think I'm going to need to move more air. Also, its only a 2.5" filter. I had to reduce the height to accomadate the RPM intake.

well guess what. find an older 302 dual intake. and then get the ducting and duct it into the holes in the fenderwells. then duct it down under the car. there you go cold air kit

I have the original one. It won't fit under the hood after I put in the RPM intake. Also it won't clear the Ford Racing valve covers needed for the rollers.

As far as I know you can't. The Air Gap is a little under and inch taller then the RPM. However, the Edelbrock site says the two intakes are the same height. I do know that when I bought mine (this last winter) the Edelbrock site had two different heights for these two intakes. Jegs has the RPM shorter my 3/4" then what Edelbrock lists it at. I do know my RPM is exactly the same height that is listed on the Jegs site. Give Edelbrock a call. Hopefully they can clarify it better for you.
