Ford Racing Distributor Gear

Ford Racing Distributor Gear
I bought a slightly used MDS Pro Billet distributor about a year ago for my 89 Hatch. It came with a brass distributor gear. At that time, I went ahead and ordered a Ford Racing steel gear from Summit (part # M 12390 B), so I could use it with my custom roller cam. I just got around to installing it this morning. I drove the roll pin out, and used a 2 jaw puller to remove the brass gear. I opened the package on the new Ford Racing gear, and discovered that it has no provision for the roll pin (no hole in the collar). Question is, has anyone out there used this part before?. I pressed it on, but I'm a little worried that it has no pin to lock it in place?

you need to press it on and I marked depth on gear where I though the pin hole on shaft would line up then drilled the hole, you need to press the new gear back on to the same depth as old one was, it takes some time but patience and you can get it right, that's what I did to mine

That's kinda what I figured, in fact, as soon as I posted this, I went to the hardware store to get a new titanium 1/8" drill bit (my old ones are toast). I marked the shaft with masking tape before pulling off the original gear, and pressed the new gear on the same depth (both gear heights are identical). It looks like the previous owner of the dizzy drilled the bronze gear out himself, because it's not on center, and the hole in the shaft is oblong instead of round. It will be fun trying to match the slightly off center hole in the shaft, but that's what you get when you buy used parts!!!. I was thinking of pressing the gear on, and drilling 90 degrees from the old hloes in the shaft?. Worst case scenario, I'll tack weld the gear to the shaft, and if the gear goes, I'll have to replace the distrubutor.
