160 t-stat??

Default 160 t-stat??

i have an 89 stang..306 h/c/i/ s-trim all bolt ons. currently had a 180 t-stat.i've been told ill benifit more from a 160 t-stat.. is this true?? thankss also for a blower car to hit 216 degrees on a 90+ hott humid day is that bad??

Don't go with a 160, it will open too early and the engine will stay in warm up mode.

Agreed, I think 160 is too cold. 180 is pretty much perfect. From my experience, you can get considerably worse mileage with the 160 as well.

ok thanks for the feedback..i heard a few guys say with the blower the 160 is better thanks for the input

160 for a blower isn't uncommon in carbureted setups, since it can keep the heads a tad cooler and hold of detonation...which matters a lot if you're running crappy old roots blowers cuz they make huge amounts of heat. But carburetors don't have open/closed loop operation like EFI does. So yeah, don't go lower than 180 or you'll be running rich.
