Default Noise in the carb?

Just got my car running again today, there is a noise coming from the carb, it sounds like popping or like air coming out of the carb. The car is also running stupid rich, but aside from the noise and running rich it runs great. Should i invest in a new carb or what?

Depending on the circumstances, it could be a number of things.
Accelerator pump, vacuum advance, clogged metering jets...

I was going to get a video of the noise, but while it was running the timing light fell off the radiator no to some wire and the car turned off and now wont start. Good stuff.

There is only one vacuum line going from the carb to the dist. i think. I also think its running rich because it smells of nothing but gas and smokes a little. But it doesnt sputter or hesitate one bit, which is good. Ill probably be replacing the carb anyway because it looks old as *****.

HAVING A BAD POWER VALVE DOESN'T PRODUCE JUST ONE SYMPTOM OFTEN...........anyway check for vaccum leaks like a base plate to carb gasket and intake gaskets, I had one recently leaking right where the head meets intake

There is a stud missing in the intake, so the carb is being held on by 3 nuts, ill try and get a video later today.
