Clutch Cables 0 : Mustang 2
Well, just now I was getting some goods for a party tonight and low and behold, the clutch cable decides to snap. The first and original cable went a few months after a King Cobra Clutch was installed over three years ago, then a Summit one was installed then a few months later in winter of 2007 a CF DF was installed. Fast forward to late 2009, and here we are.
I already have the adjustable quadrant, etc...
What's the best cable to go with, I can't remember which one we always recommend people, OEM?

A 20 year old cable plus a King Cobra clutch snapped? Well, we all knew that was coming.
With the light base pressure of a Centerforce. I'd think even a cheapie Ford Racing Products cable. It was probably the King Cobra that did most of the damage to the cable. Do you have long tube headers or some bad cable angles from the firewall to your quadrant?
I've read it here a hundred times. The OEM cable from Ford is the best but at 10 times the price, it's not the best for the dollar.
If the money tree was paying for my cable. I'd be willing to try the OEM too but at my wage. I'd give the FRP cable the nod everytime.

Well, all i can find is the FRP ones. I already have the quadrants and never liked how that adjustable rod at the fork end didn't flex like a non adjustable cable. I see you can get a non adjustable one with a fork(no idea why) from FRP and it's just as cheap as one w/o a fork.

That'll end your cable snapping issues. Make sure you route it properly; binding is the number one cause of cable failure. I went through a steeda cable, upr cable, and three autozone cables before I got this cable and all was well again.
I'm running this cable with my steeda billet quadrant and firewall adjuster without any problems. Some of the listings for that part number will say you can only use it with the Ford OEM adjustable quadrant; it's compatible with any quadrant.
