Default whistling from inside the block?

so ive been having a very strong high pitched whistle from my car after it gets warmed up. when its cold it doesnt seem to happen. when this whistling starts its not bad then it gets higher and louder. as this is happening the idle goes from its normal 800 rpms to up and down and up and down. it wants to die then it revs up and back and forth. so i originally thought it was the IAC motor on the throttle body but after tightening the screws, getting a new gaasket for it and listening to the sound i dont think its that. i think its comin from the block somewhere but i cant pin point it with spraying carb cleaner around where i think it is. the check engine light isnt coming on but its not driving like it should and the weird idle and whistling has been driving me nuts. if anyone has any suggestions please, ill take any help i can get.
thanks in advance..
chris

it sucks i have a similiar issue. hard to track down that whistling. im thinkin either a vac leak from the hoses under the upper intake manifold or maybe a leaky intake gasket

My Car also has a whistle and it's an exhaust leak coming from the headers. Havent had the time to fix it! It's fairly noticeable when your outside the car but not in the cabin. Also maybe check all your vacuum lines,my car had serious idle issues that have finaly been resolved.

I would just find the diagram and torq specifications for the headers. Then do it accordingly and see if it goes away. If not well then at least you fixed another potential problem.

ok will o, the only prob im having is that i can seem to fit sockets around of the bolts. i have some bbk shorty headers and the header tube gets in the way of a snug fit on some bolts. what do u guys use?

I have some bbk's and they don't use sockets. I tighten them with an allen wrench tip. Check to see if yours are the same.
