Exhaust/O2 question - '95 GT 5.0HO
Afternoon all ~ Did some searching and put this under 'Exhaust clip/description thread' but not sure if that one is active ~ apologies for the "repost" on the main if its not the proper place
My history is with Pontiac Firebirds TAs, this is my first Ford and thus far I'm loving it. Have a 1995 Mustang GT - 5.0HO.
Not trying to mod it out just yet, as I want to do that as a solid project and not a little at a time. Still enjoying it as a daily driver.
Currently, I'm a bit lost on some exhaust issues I've been faced with. The car has just at 100k and runs like a beast but the exhaust is coming to pieces after factory headers. First a heatshield here, then a heat shield there, then the right bank pipe is loose and rattles. Went to a local shop and was advised that if I pull the pipes down to just pipe and mufflers, I'll need MIL's for the 02 sensors and an H or X pipe - - - Inc'ing questions:
1 - does the 1995 5.0 HO have back O2 sensors that NEED the MIL's without running lean? ... if not, how to disable then would be the next question
2 - leaving the factory manifolds in place, who makes the "best for least $" exhaust for this year model

1. our cars just have the two precat o2 sensors, no mils needed.
2.I have a bbk mid pipe and it fits well and wasn't that expensive. I think pypes or jegs/summit brand are about the cheapest ones on the market, no comment on quaity though, never used them.

BBK makes excellent X pipes, however some people bitch about their H pipes not fitting correctly. Summitracing.com also offeres mid pipe and catback options, which you should look into.

Sad to say, this is making miss my old TA's. Walk 16 miles in the snow to the muffler shop ... Drop the cats, roll the 3 inch pipe. Done
I guess I need to get it off the ground to see the full scene of the exhaust. It looks like it has resonators then cats, then piped back to the muffers. The aftermarket ones I've seen have what appear to be resonators on them as well so I'll assume these are suggested for backpressure.
Summit didn't have as much as I would have hoped, will keep looking. Any direct links are apprechiated as well.
