My 91 lx 5.0 is stripped down to the shell and I am trying to decide on the direction of my build. I want to build a nice weekend car to take to shows and Sunday drives. I would like to simplify the engine bay/wire harness and delete the airbag and smog systems. This also allows me to go with an after market steering wheel.

I reside in IL and have been told there is a way around having to get the car smog tested but dont know specifics.

What are everyone's thoughts on this. Any obvious deal breakers?

I live in IL, but my county does not do emissions testing so im lucky in that asspect.
Im in the process of removing the A/C and Smog system on my 90 GT but im undecided on wether or not to remove the air bag components, just from a safety standpoint.

Its my winter project and im doing basic bolt on's to start with

When i was tearing the car down all I could think about is how much wiring and sensors can be eliminated if i got rid of the air bag system. Plus the airbag steering wheel is crap.
