Default Tranny swap Auto to Stick?????

Im contemplating a tranny sawp in my 88 gt, i want to go with a manual have decided 5 or 6 spd yet what alls entailed with doing this swap and if anyone who has done this i would like to hear how it worked out, and how easy or difficult it is.thanks send replies to

I think you should definiely go with the 6 speed tremec, especially if it is a street car. That would be great on the interstate. You would have to get a clutch pedal assembly, maybe a new flywheel, a pressure plate, clutch fork, pilot bering, and clutch cable, and a new shifter. Thats all i can think of there is probably more.

I was searching this, too. That sounds like the whole deal; clutch, flywheel, pedall assy., clutch cabling, shifter, etc. AFAIK the subframe piece is the same. I see one guy comment that a different starter was necessary.

will need a bell housing, a tranny xmember or modifty yours. T56 is a longer tranny and mount is different. different driveshaft cause of the length of tranny. some wiring will need to be done cause of the sensors in teh t56. new tranny mount. i think there is more but not sure on it
