Ok ok, not completely. You have the big bolt in the middle that's right lol. But the way it works is it has to be able to grab and pull. I assume you were trying to tighten the small bolts? Which that would only push it on tighter and hence, bend the bolts. You can't just have those bolts out of those holes like that.
Watch and learn.
Watch and learn.
technically though, if i were tightening the small bolts, and the balancer was on there loose enough to move easily, it would pull off as well, not push on. tightening those small bolts would pull them closer to the balancer, but they cant get closer because the center bolt is fixed, thus they would pull the balancer toward themselves. of course, i would have to turn each bolt only a little at a time to keep them relatively even.
i watched that video yesterday. not much to learn from that. and, i think maybe he had his puller flipped over? not sure. the instructions on this one i have said the bolt heads should rest on the flat part of the puller, which means the rounded part should face the engine. of course, i read some instructions online somewhere that said the flat part should face engine, which makes less sense.
anyway, the only difference between that video and what i have done (other than the flipped over puller), is he has his small bolts in a straight line through the center bolt (as others have suggested). i can only set mine up that way if i use holes on the balancer that are for the crank pulley rather than the balancer puller.
still waiting to hear if thats ok.
im going to try it later today regardless and hope it turns out well.
edit: also, it appears he is using the cone fitting on the center bolt, which i have been told is stupid.

The puller is a Y shape, does the bolt at the bottom of the Y line up with a hole? If so, then you'd be able to use 3 points to pull from. It's been 4 years since I did mine so I can't remember exactly.
