Assistance Installing New Ford Racing Gear - 1991
Hello all- I was wondering if anyone has done the ring and pinion for a 1991 Mustang and remembered about how many shims it took them. I don't want to risk pressing the bearing and then finding out it is the wrong length away.
Thanks in advance for your help!

there is no specific answer, if you don't understand how or know how to set a rear up, step away and let a pro do it........... backlash should be .008-.012 and pinion shim needed...well you'll have to measure the stock pinion head vs new one, if they are the same, often I have been able to use stock shim.....but it depends, you'll also have to run the pattern and check it with paste also make sure you have proper tools to set crush/ preload on pinion, = need 16-29 for a new bearing and 4 to 15 for used , that is inch lbs of rotational torque
