I give up. How in god's name do you get the front crank seal out of the timing cover?? Mine got bent up when I installed my damper the first time, now it needs replaced.
It is much easier once you take the timing cover off.
I did take the cover off. I beat the **** out of it with a screwdriver/hammer until it slid out. Now how do I get the new one installed? I tried the piece of 2x4 I've read about, but its not working
some of the aftermarket seals slide in from the front lay the timing cover flat use a 4'' to 6'' 2x4 lay the seal flat over the timing cover with the board on top and hit it dead in the middle also some grease wouldnt hurt
Did it slide in pretty easily? I felt like I was beating the **** out of it
I did it about 6 months ago, so I don't remember for sure. I do remember it didn't slide in real easy. Make sure you have your board level(or whatever) with the hole. Don't want to try to drive it in crooked. How big of a hammer are you using? If I remember right I used the BFH on it. Not an extremely hard whack, but a decent one.
