5.0 Won't stay on
Got a '93 5.0 Auto. My dad took it for a ride the other day and it started bogging in the middle of driving and then finally shut off. For the first 24 hours, she would just turn over and never turn on. After about 24 hours, she would turn over as normal, start for 2-5 seconds and then shut off.
I took off the air inlet pipe and saw that the throttle body was getting stuck with gunk, cleaned it with some carb cleaner and of course she started and stayed on longer from all the gas in there (like 5-10 seconds) and then shut off.
While she was on, I managed to press the gas a few times and it felt like she was misfiring.
Any ideas where I should start my troubleshooting?

Is there a way to test the FP? I've done it on my '02 before and it was fairly easy just time consuming.
Also, I can hear the FP prime when I give it ignition but I'm assuming that's not really an assurance that it's working.

My mechanic neighbor had a few moments and helped me narrow down between a few things.
Either:
1. The filter is so badly clogged that it's actually not letting through enough fuel to let the car start
2. The fuel pump is bad
3. The "PIP sensor" is bad and it's letting it prime but doesn't actually run the pump once the car is on
He told me to swap the filter, and if it doesn't work, test the fuel pressure. If it's low when just priming, it's the pump. If it's normal when priming but then drops off, the pump is either bad or doesn't get power. To test for power, he told me to just take a 12-volt wire to it and run it constantly. If the car runs, it's the power to pump. If it doesn't, it's the pump.
How does this all sound?
