Default Instrument cluster lights..

89 LX 5.0. My gauge cluster back lights do not work. Turn signals and warning lights still work. Dome light kicks on when i turn the dimmer fully to the right. It has an aftermarket head unit. Behind the HU is a small plug that is not plugged into anything. I am thinking dimmer switch but would other lights not be working if it was the problem? All fuses are good. All other lights work as they should. Is there any way to bypass the dimmer switch to test if it is the problem? I really don't feel like dropping a hundo on a new switch.. I have done a couple hours of research on this, but to no avail..

Thank's for any help guys

No one has any idea what wires are what that go to the dimmer switch? And if i could jump them to see if the dash lights will come on?

do you know which wires that run to the dimmer switch are the ones shown on the diagram? There a bunch of them leading to the switch. If my other lights, such as switch back lights and such are lit up, would that rule out the dimmer switch and make it maybe a loose connector on the back of the cluster or maybe a shorted wire?

Light brown/red is the power feed for the entire system, from the dimmer. Everything in the middle of the diagram is powered from that 1 circuit, so if everything else works except cluster, I'd say either all the lights are burnt out or there's a wiring issue at/near the cluster.

Could be a fried spot on the flexible circuit board on the back. You'll see.
