Black Widow High Output Build!

Well yesterday I pulled the engine that was in my 88 hoping maybe it was savable to be put in the mustang. Unfortunetly being it through a rod bearing the connecting rod smashed the cylinder wall and the block is toast. So now we have to find a 302 for this thing. What caused the thrown rod is an ASE certified mechanic whom pulled the dizzy and didn't know that the oil pump driveshaft could have fallen off. some of these mechanics need to go back to school.

I don't think that later rear axle will work, I think it's too wide.
Also, while you are prowling the junk yards keep your eye out for a 'double hump' type oil pan that was used in the FOX body 302's, you'll need it to get a 302 into the Mustang........

Good to know because yesterday I almost bought a new engine for the car for $80 then found a crack in the block. Still on the hunt for a cheap nice 302 without heads and now I know I need a double hump oil pan.

Picked up a C4 automatic transmission with small block bell housing, torque convertor, spacer plate, and torque convertor access plate from a 65 mustang that was rebuild 15K miles ago for $60! Only problem is when cold it takes a bit higher rpm before it shifts. Guy told us that he thinks it was the seal on a piston in it. We shall see. Figured either this one or the one currently in the car has to be rebuild able and the bell housing, torque convertor, and spacer plate alone was worth $60.
So defiantly going with a 289, 302, or 351 now (preferably 302FI) and keeping the C4 auto transmission.

Well got a few pics of the stang as a roller now. Also found out it has 2.73 gears. Blagh!
Can I take the ring and pinion from the ford 7.5" ranger rear end and put it in this one so that I could have 3.73s then all I will need is the posi?

If I could find an 8.8 then I would problem is only 8.8 I have found is in my backyard from a 92 explorer with 3.73LS and I don't think it will work (unless it will). I know the 8.8 is better (have a 84 BII with 7.5 and then my 94 Explorer and F150s have 8.8s)
