Default help 7.5 to 8.8 rear end control arm issue

Hello all,

I have a pretty serious problem that I noticed earlier this year on my 83 vert fox. I swapped my 7.5 rear end for a 8.8 about 3 years ago and just early this year noticed my upper control arm bushings were completely gone. I went ahead and replaced my factory control arms with an aftermarket summit kit. Well I have about 400 miles on the car now since i installed them and noticed my polyurethane bushing on the upper arms are already mangled and the arms look to be forcing into the mounts. Anyone have any Idea what could be happening here? I put Eibach lowering springs around the car about 2 years ago but never noticed a change in anything. Everything looked great when I first put them in earlier this year and seemed to line up without a real hitch.

I had the same issue on my 84 with aftermarket upper and lowers. I was told it was because of suspension bind.

Looks kinda like the tube is too short to hold the bushing. Get a good set of arms and you should fix the problem.

Well if all it is the arms I guess its not terrible. They were a cheap set but its still suprising to see this much carnage in such a short amount of time.

If those are the cheap ebay kind , then that is your problem right there.

They are the Summit Series upper/lower rated for 350hp. I havnt really beat on my car since I put them in so its not like its a powered related problem. I am debating between UPR and BBK series. Both look very nice.

My 84 had UPRs. I don't recommend them. go with a quality set up like Team Z or Maximum Motorsports. Remember, you get what you pay for, if they are priced cheap, they don't R&D but copy other designs.

UPR is just as good and competitively priced to the other two you mentioned. Nothing wrong with UPR.
