another equal length shorty install issue (with pics)
hey all
95gt
so, bbk sent instructions for install. in the instructions (image below) it says to modify the air injection tubes. however, the image in the instructions doesnt match the actual tubing. it looks like they are telling me to modify tubes A and B, but then they are also showing what appears to be tube C but as you can see in the image of the actual, there is that part G before tube C.
sorry if this is confusing.
i get it that they want me to move the entire assembly toward the front of the car, but if i do that, then to get tube C to go where its supposed to be (connected to the pump), then i would have to shorten the tubing between F and G and also shorten some of tube C where it leaves G.
it looks like what they want me to do is replace tube A with E. Take D and connect it to B, then take A and add it to D. Thats fine, except the problem i mentioned above about how C will be way past where it needs to be to connect to the pump.
if anybody has some thoughts on this, please share.
also, 'get rid of it all' isnt a solution i think i want to try.
thanks in advance

"get rid of it all" is a very viable option.
you pull all that **** out and run a shorter belt. then plug your thermactor holes with 5/8-11 bolts, or plugs.
Thermactor delete will not cause a check engine light, but if it makes you feel better, I can burn you a chip that deletes it electronically.

Why do you feel this way?
You don't need to put that stuff back on your car. Remove the air bypass, air diverter, all the hoses to and from those, plug the holes on the back of the cylinder heads when you take the metal tube off of them (64Bit even mentioned what size to use - 5/8-11 bolts or plugs), remove the metal tube going down to the "h" or "x" pipe and plug the open end at the exhaust. Remove your smog pump and get a shorter serpentine belt. I bought a Gates Micro-V-AT K060849 belt for my application.
Dont forget to plug the vacuum lines going to the air bypass and air diverter valve that you remove. Those would be F and G in your first picture here.

it looks like they only want you to extend hose B with the metal spacer and extra hose. I don't think they need you to move everything foward, but that's just what I'm getting from looking at the picture.
Did anyone provide install pics on the site you got them from? If they're sold by Summit, I believe they have a 24/7 hotline (I think someone does, I can't be sure if it's summit or Jeggs or someone else). But they'll definitely be able to answer it in the morning.
What I would personally do is try to reinstall the tube with just the extension piece (D) in tube (B), and see if the other tubes fit. Does that make sense?
Everyone else, why are you giving him answers to questions he didn't ask? Some people have this thing called emissions/inspection where they live, and cannot just delete stuff.

Yeah, after thinking about it...... I'm in Texas and my 5.0 is 25 years old next year so no more emissions test for me. His is a 95 and the laws wherever he may live are probably different. So do what you have to 9550, good luck.
