New to me 1986 SSP
Hello all and merry Christmas!!
Edit(I have decided to make this my build thread so stay tuned!)
Well I guess I will start from the top. I have been on this site for quite sometime now, reading and learning as much as I can. During this time I have been looking for a Mustang. I have looked at daily drivers, projects, and race cars not being able to decide what I truly wanted. After a 3 year long search I have finally found one! A 1986 Mustang GT SSP!!
A coworker of mine mentioned to me he had a 1986 SSP in his garage that was a dead project and he wanted to see it living again. Well I looked at some pictures he had taken(attached) and discussed what he had planned for it and where he left off. When I saw the pictures I fell in love and could see the diamond in the ruff. The next step was to get it for the right price.. After a few days of talking about it on and off we settled on a price $500 with the stipulation I take him on a ride and let him drive it when it is done and I said SOLD!!
Now that we had settled on a price I went with a few buddies and we picked it up Christmas eve! When we arrived the former owner was waiting and ready. I walked into his shop see the car sitting on wheel dollies and several large boxes sitting next to it. He said he had found some parts that he had bought for the car before the project died and he was going to throw them all in. I was completely ok with him doing that!
After the holiday festivities today I decided to open the boxes and try and figure out what I have and don't have. It was a great Christmas present opening all these boxes and seeing what was in them! I have not made a complete list yet that is next, but I will say there are tons of new, most never opened, speed parts!
Now I am trying to figure out where do I start.. My thoughts are inventory everything and understand what I have and what I need.
Please comment and tell me what y'all think and what y'all think is the next step!!
Thanks in advance!!

Great buy man, you got a lot of work ahead of you , but it looks like you got a lot of good stuff to sort through.
First thing I would do is take inventory of what all is there. Then try to come up with some goals and figure out what your overall plan is, ie do you want to make massive power , or do you just want a fun street cruiser with a little more get up and go than the average stock street car.
Find out what rear gears are in it, Im going to take a stab and guess someone has already installed a set of gears the 3 most likely sets would be 3.55 3.73 or 4.10s. I say most likely because someone has done some work in the past to it.
I notice that there is some sub frame rails and a maf conversion kit there with it as well as some pretty decent suspension parts. Also has some nice cobra R rims , and what appears to be parts for putting the factory A/C back in the car.
Aside from the obvious needing paint, the car looks pretty solid. I would have a blast with that car putting it all together.
You got one heck a deal on that roller.
If you run across any parts you cant identify post the pics up and one of us will know what they are for sure.

Thanks I am gonna have a great time! As for gears, I got all the paperwork and receipts from everything he has done to it. I know it has a new rear end from Moser. I will find that receipt and figure it out. I am sure I will need some help figuring out what some of the parts are. There is still one box that I haven't even opened that is all used parts!
As for new parts this is what I can think of off the top of my head:
Short throw shifter
Maximum motor sports suspension kit
caster chamber plates
moser rear end
bbk throttle body (bigger I assume)
MAF converstion
5 point harness
Aluminum Driveshaft
rack and pinion
power steering pump
A/C compressor
EGR Plate
Baer brakes (4 wheel disc)
cold air intake
and more I think.
As for goals for the car...I want a car that is a strong street car that is fun to drive and handles well with maybe, 300-350hp at the crank.

Soo... I read through all the receipts and I found where he did an entire rear end rebuild. I think the axles are maybe Moser, but I haven't found any receipts. The rear gears has been upgraded to 3.55s. I also, found all the receipts for the axle being powder coated black.

I have the build sheet. That is the piece of paper shown in one of the pictures above. It was delivered to San Jose California I believe. Yeah I agree it's a good deal!

The fan Im not to sure why its marked police, other than maybe the SSP got a higher flowing fan.
I want to say those first set of brackets shown are panhard bar mounts. But my memory is eluding me at the moment.
Brackets and bushings with the rubber are all exhaust hangers.
suspension link NO that is a tie rod end.
