Does anybody know of any kits that would allow you to upgrade a 5.0 ignition system to modern (computer controlled) ignition like on all new mustangs, or am I dreaming up something that doesn't exist?
Yes I am. For a couple reasons. The modern engines burn the fuel more efficiently and make more power, also I live in California and the smog restrictions get tougher each year.

I think you should just realize that your dealing with and old push rod V8 design and accept it's not worth the cost. The stock ignition has been proven reliable and more than adequate for almost any build. Unless your running very high boost pressure and blowing the spark out at high RPM, but that's about the limit.
