8.8 rear is a must...the stock 7.5 4 bangers have wont hold up well to stress.

hey bro, i converted my 95 3.8 to a 5.0. i kept the stock rear end in it. everyone said it wouldnt hold up, but thats bull s**t. it will, it just sucks tho because its not limited slip. i alsokept the tranny that was in it, and it held up fine. but you will need the ecu and wiring harness from the car your getting the 5.0 from. your also gonna need the exhuast man, so try and take the exhaust off the 5.0 car if yah can, unless your planning on doing an aftermarket set up already. snag the ac lines too, unless you dont want ac. and a helpfull word of advice man, before you pull the 5.0 out of the car, make sure you know where every ground is on that car. when i got my 5.0, it was already pulled at the junkyard, so i didnt know. the car wont run worth a damn, until every ground is hooked up correctly, and there a quite a few of them. feel free to ask if you want any kind of help with it man.

im pretty sure you will need gas lines and a new throttle cable. you will probably need a double hump cross member, but im not sure. im not sure on this because i havent done one myself. you also might need stiffer springs in the front. the 5.0 is a lot heavier than the 2.3

BULL PLOP!lol

You can use the stock 7.5 for well up to and over 400 horsepower with no problems as long as you dont make a habit out of running slicks! In fact 79-86 used the 7.5's as the v8 rearend. The 7.5 is a under rated tough as rear end.I have 331 stroker running fine on my 7.5 and its fine.

If for some reason you get a chance at an 8.8 take it its an upgrade but you dont have to change your rear out unless its junk now.Just get you a carbed motor and a C4 tranny build them up and kick some ***!

As for your swap though you need if you go with a carbed setup a motor, tranny, mechanical pick up in the gas tank, double hump cross member if you want true duals, and the time to do it.Theres nothing to swapping in a 5.0 in the fox body stangs.I rebuilt my engine set it off to the side pulled the 4 cylinder out and all the efi crap and extra wiring and had the new engine and tranny in and running in less than a weekend. And thats not counting the engine build i did that over the winter in my spare time but when i swapped them over in the spring it was done in a weekend with nothing more than simple hand tools and an engine hoist.

Go for it man it isnt s**t.Just pay attention and dont get pissed off.Once you get going the parts literally fall into place.

Also instead of a janky *** junkyard driveshaft with umpteen billion miles on it use a yoke thats compatible with your tranny in my case a C4 and go have one fabbed up i had a full 4 inch aluminum driveshaft built to the ford racing specs for 100 bucks at a local machine shop.Just get the correct measurements.

Don't forget to upgrade the brakes. You'll need to stop faster if your goin faster. Plus the car will be alot heavier with the bigger motor, tranny and rear.

BRAKES?WE DONT NEED NO STINKING BRAKES!

You dont actually have to again that was standard size for 79-86 stangs with v8's.I just did the brakes on mine when i swapped it over and used a good quality set of rotors, pads, drums and flushed the system and used brand new fluid and it stops on a dime.

But if you want to do an upgrade the lincoln lsc has 11 inch rotors in front and i think 10 in the rear but you need the whole system including booster.Or go manual.

you might want to look into throwing a 9" rear end into it instead of the 8.8" if you are going to change out the 7.5". they are bulletproof and really easy to change rear end gears in .
