Default E-CAM

HEY EVERYONE....

I HAVE THE E-CAM, AND I DID ALL MY WORK AT ONCE, MEANING, GT-40 Y HEADS, TRICK FLOW STREEET HEAT INTAKE, 1.7 RR. AND MY QUESTION IS , WHAT ARE THE DOWNFALLS OF THE E-CAM SINCE ITS HARD TO NOTICE WHAT THE ACTUAL POWER WAS LIKE SINCE I DID ALL THAT WORK AT ONCE. I LOVE THE SOUND AND I LOVE THE POWER, BUT LOW END IS SORT OF LOST, I KNOW THAT MUCH,

OTHER MODS INCLUDE: Pro-m 75mm, 24pounders, 190 pump, mac shorty headers, mac prochambers, mac mufflers, 3.73 gears, nitto drags.

ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, BUT SOME DOWNFALLS OF THE E-CAM IS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW, AND IF YOU WANT TO TELL ME OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE E-CAM TOO THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!

THANKS!!!

stock throttle body?

e303+1.7 rockers and yeah, you'll lose a bit of low end. You've just moved your power up in the RPM range. You've also lost power because of the low compression pistons. Are you planning on adding forced induction?

Yeah thanks for the reply.... I have a 65mm FMS throttle body... forgot to mention that...

and a holley fuel press. reg.

I am planning on adding a blower , yes...

I know I have more top end now... but I wish I had that low end like I did with the stock cam...

hmm....

I love the power regardless... so whatever...

FWIW mine doesn't really start making power until 2500+, really hits hard at 2800 or so, but that's F303 and stock rockers on edelbrock heads. I love it. Pulls like mad from 2800 until whenever it is I decide to lift.

I know...

I love my buddy's F-CAM he has 1.72 rockers... the idle is just plain sick... so f**king cool!!!

nice heads...

Yeah my low compression kills performance because not only does the e-cam wake up at like 3 grand... but my motor is trying to build up compression let alone trying to wake up the cam... so... yeah... I would have went the F-CAM route... but I live in Chicago, and I can't pass the emissions with the F... I passed with the E though like 3 weeks after installing it... very cool

well I would put in a set of 1.6 and maybe mill a few 1000th off the heads.. going to a long tube header and tuning it will help some...a set of 4:10 will help and or a shorter /tire or pulling the timing cover and advancing the cam 2 degrees will help the most

Well I deffinetely need tuning... the rpm is not smooth when I rev it... it lags a little...

its fine when driving.. but the response in revs is a little delayed...

i love lumpy idle!!

so basically it is like having a turbo (with how it kicks in at 2800) but without turbo lag?? bet you cant wait till you supercharge it, eh. i personally like low end torque, but that is just me.
