Default 89 GT help!!!

Hello all, well I have had my car for about 7 months, and well, its hurting. It has been runing perfectly till now, once every 2 months or so I have to take a 4 hour trip most of it being high ways. Well on this last trip my cars check engin light came on so i pulled into a parking lot, as I say there the carsodomiter (the rpm gauge)and my batery gauge started freaking out going up and down, then stops after like 10 seconds. Haveing to make it home I continue the trip and I could tell my car is hurting, the noise its makeing just doesn't sound right.. no way to realy explain it (sorry). and when im at a stop light or something i hear my car almost dieing and sometimes the gauges freak out agian. HELP ME!

Sorry for suck a long post..

hm
sounds electrical - something is shorting out.
check for melted spark plug wires
also check positive battery cable.

fyi
rpm gauge = tachometer
mileage = odometer

Same thing happened to me in my beater 83, it wheel hopped so damn bad the bungy cord holding the battery in unhooked and the cables literally fell off, might have been because the bolts were broke and the cables were just sitting on the posts, the car ran but guages acted spooky and tried dying. Sounds like a bad alternator or bad ground from body to engine or, you battery fell out like mine (not likely) for some reason mine woudlnt start afterwards. lol

I got rid of the car shortly after tho when the frame was starting to rust out the the car started folding in half

jt351 what frame?All stangs from the beginning of time have been unibodies.The most common place for mustangs to rust out is the shock towers.

As far as a unibody goes, what are those things you weld on the bottom of the car.hmmm subframe connectors. What rusted out was the box portion of the subframe at the bottoms of the strut towers i guess that's what i called my frame. Its been sitting out back for a few years now, its actually starting to fold, I only paid a 100$ for it, it sure was fun the time i had with her, now she's just been a hell of a parts car,I hated to do it it was a T-Top car and the outside was not rusty at all. i got a real nice 90' mustang now with a 351, all the goodies, fun street car making just making shy of 400 rear wheel horsepower, no more days of bungee cords for me
