Default Ticking noise from engine

I have a 94 5.0 5 spd and I am wondering why when I accelerate I get this ticking noise coming from what SEEMS to be the left side of my engine, and I was wondering what it could be if anything. It's a considerably loud ticking considering my friend in a mustang next to me heard it all the way from his car. Any way I could check what the problem is or how I could fix it? Thanks

Probably valves... You might just have a stud nut backing off on you, and theres excessive valve lash, hence the ticking.

Is it a ticking or is it a knock?

Or it could be a exhaust leak also....

exhaust leak, or a plug wire off. i would not say a valve lash issue yet. start with the simple things. what is done to your car bud? headers, cam, exhaust? that may help us to help you

Ive found things like blown header gaskets tend to have a "tin" ish sound to them. God arnt we technical with our sound descriptions?

haha

Z-you need to give us a bit more info. Maybe pick up a mechanics stethoscope and help pinpoint it. They are like 10-15$

Is it clicking when you drive or all the time? if its when your driving check your brake dust guards, sounds funny, but i spent a long time chasing down what i thought was a serious problem. The bottoms of mine were broken off, and when i got on it they would rattle. if its more of a click it could be a rocker arm. does it click faster when your rpm increase?

Nope, to pinpoint the sound I would definetly call it a heavy clock tick. Not even close to a knocking, just think of a heavy clock ticking, only alot faster, and the faster I go/rev the faster it ticks. I was thinking about picking up a steth.....any other suggestions?

if your year engine uses the factory pedestal mount rockers they could be falling out of adjustment. not much you can do but try changing to a little bit thicker oil. My mustang usually did that when i was getting low on oil, wouldn't hurt to check.

sounds like rockers need adjustment, exhaust leak would be a putting noise not ticking. So if I was you I would get a steth o scope and if its comes from the valve covers it is rockers or valves. hope that helps.
