Default So this will probably make alot of you mad but

I'm wanting to know what my car will run...BUT WAIT!!!

Before you see red and tell me to take it to the track to test it, I will pleade my case...

I'm a Las Vegas resident and we have this pretty awesome speedway out here...the only problem is they rarely hold a test and tune. The track is dominated by other events. There is a test and tune coming up but I will be out of town for it. The next one I will be able to attend is well over a month away.

With that being said...I really would like a guesstimate of what you guys think the car is capable of.

The car is a 95GT coupe 5spd with 70,000 miles.

The mods are as follows

Diet of roughly 200 pds
Gear Drive
BBK U/D Pullies
BBK CAI
Explorer Intake
E303 Cam
1.72rr's and upgraded springs
BBK E/L Headers
O/R X pipe
Flowmaster Muffs dumped
Steeda LCAs
Steeda lowering springs in the rear (was hoping for better weight transfer)
Removed sway bar
RAM HDX Clutch
Street tires

I am looking into a set of draglites with slicks out back and skinnies up front but don't know if I'll have them by late October or not, so a guess for before and after would be great. I will have a S/T shifter by then too.

Car has stock gearing.

Elevation is 1961.9
Temp should be around 70 degrees with about 20 percent humidity. Air density is around 90 percent and density altitude should be around 3500.

Thanks and Sorry!!!

I have a slide rule that works off power to weight ratio. If you can telll me your exact weight & your best guess at your rear wheel HP<--- No delusions of granduer here, you have to be realistic), I can tell you an estimated ET & MPH.
**It won't compensate for corrected air density & altitude, or smoking the tires off the line so you'll have to take care of that part.

Hey Katie, thanks for the reply. I'm guessing my car is very close to 3100 pounds with me in it. As for power, I really have zero clue. I believe they are around 180hp to the wheels stock. I would guess...and that's all it is is a flat out guess that there's another 35ish to the tires so 215 total? Yikes...That sounds slow.

BTW...where abouts are you located in Oregon. I lived in Medford for about20 years and just moved from Portland to Las Vegas about 2 months ago.

I think your estimated weight is quite low. I'm willing to bet it's more around 3300 lbs with a 100 lb driver.

1995 gt coupe 5spd weighs in at 3077 pds. That's atleast what I "googled". I rounded to 3100pds for a little gas. I figured I have roughly 200 pounds gutted from the car, however I am close to 200 pds. That's where I came up with that number, however I could be wrong as I used only one source for the initial weight.

I guess I could go read my door...but that would be WAY to easy lol. I did a quick search again and found that the 6 cylinders were 3077pds. So you are probably very close to your estimate. Thanks Tony!

Although Wikipedia is not a reliable source for anything, it lists the curb weight as 3354, which is pretty close(+/-) to other numbers I have found on the web. This is for a cobra, but the gt is very close.

lol, love me some wiki! No I fully agree that you're close after reading its the 6 banger that comes in at the 3077 mark. Guess I'll just have to start gutting it a little more. The drag stars should help a lot. Thanks again.

It'll run about tree fiddy....

Ok ok, all seriousness.. you have stock heads still I assume? Not ported or anything? That's about your most restrictive part... You could probably run high 13s on a good run.. I'd say low 14s average..

Well that's an honest estiment on the HP (& maybe a little conservative). I thought with that list of parts that HP would be higher.
at 3100 lbs & 215 HP- 14.48 @ 94.2 MPH
at 3100 lbs & 220 HP- 14.35 @ 95.1 MPH
at 3100 lbs & 225 HP- 14.23 @ 95.8 MPH

saw Tonys post about the 3300 lbs so here's that weight
at 3300 lbs & 215 HP- 14.80 @ 92.2 MPH
at 3300 lbs & 220 HP- 14.70 @ 93.0 MPH
at 3300 lbs & 225 HP- 14.55 @ 93.6 MPH

These are for 70 Degrees F, sea level, 50 water grains, & assuming no serious traction problems off the line. If you have any new weight or HP info, post back & I'll re run them.
Ha ha must be real culture shock for you moving from Medford to that socialist/ communist hell hole of Portland. What do you do up there? I used to live in Medford. Was born about 30miles west of there in Grants Pass. Now live at Farwest on the Pacific Coast. Moved over here so I could use my Dads automotive knowledge & his garage & tools to work on my toys ha ha ha

**edit** Ha Ha just reread & see that you're in Vegas now. Didn't last long in Portland did ya? ha ha ha What do you do that you bounce around so much?? Same job in Medford Portland & Vegas?
**re edit** The one I highlighted in blue doesn't hold with the normal smooth progression. I think it's because the lines are so close together on the rule & are hard to determine which line is closest to which. Could just as easily be a 14.58 or .60
