RE: help please
pull the covers off the steering column and look for this piece. this is the ignition switch.
there will be a black wiring connector going to it. pull that connector off.
my bet is that the connector and subsequently, the wiring, has melted.
common issue in foxes.
autozone sells the switch and repair harness, both for less than $25 total.

Could be just the switch too, the little metal tabs that hold the plastic piece get weak from heat and it causes it to separate.
It has happen to my fox twice 7 & 8 years ago when I first got it, a couple lincoln's and other ford products in the family. And most recently to my wifes aerostar. Seams the Arizona heat is murder on them.
I've found a temp repair that worked and is something I did to the one in my car to prevent it from separating again.
Take a narrow zip-tie and put it on the end closest to the wheel, right around the tabs.
Been running mine like this for years and no problems with it since.
Here is a picture of the one on my car I just took, on the left you can see the zip-tie.
On the aerostar with the harness plugged in I also put one on the other end as far as possible where it will still hold it together, but you have to be carefull to make sure it doesn't interfere with slide rod from the key or it will not let it move forward enough to start. The approximate location for it is the red line on the picture.
Hope this helps.
