ive recently gotten into the car scene.....i had a crappy import before i bought my mustang. so far i have put in a cold air intake, 75 mm throttle body, and an o/r x-pipe but as i have looked around these forums, i see a lot of stuff about heads....what do they do and should i put them in my car if i plan on modifying my engine more?

heads, cam and intake will wake you car up, the heads and cam are the heart odf the 5.0's performance, the cylinder heads chennel the a/f mixture into the cumbustion chambers to be ignited and burned which arrives at the chamber through the proper timing/opening and closing of the valves which is dictated by the camshaft

totally depends on what you buy, could be as little as a couple hundred bucks up to a couple grand, do heads/cam/intake at the same time for the best gains.

If you have a decent understanding of how everything works and goes together it's pretty simple, I did mine on my own and it was the first time I've ever taken an engine apart, it was pretty easy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_head that might help you understand what a head is and does.

As far as how much it costs, how long is a piece of string?

Depends what you want, new or used, how long you wait til' you find the right deal. Theres a lot of info, search around, look at some combos. Figure out what what you want....then figure out how much money you have....and buy accordingly.

so i looked into head from Hi-Tech...but i know nothing about heads and what a good company is....im only looking in the mustangs unlimited book though, as a starter. i looked at patriot performance but that was too much. the camshafts werent that expensive. i just dont know what the difference is between stage 1 2 and 3. as for heads...i was looking for something around $500-600. would something in that price range give me a noticeable power gain if i get the camshaft with it? and consider this is a 95 gt, whatever difference that makes
