So my goal in the next 6 months here while I wait for spring to come back is to get my suspension in order. Is this basically all I will need to support all the hp?

-weld in subframe connectors
-upper and lower torque box reinforcements
-upper and lower control arms
-springs
-adjustable shocks and struts
-panhard bar for cornering (not necessary)
-upgrade brakes

What should I do to "upgrade" the brakes?

IMO keep the stock fronts and get the disk rears. factory rear disk break set up + these brackets a company sells so you can keep your stock axels and wheels. unless you wanna spend money to go 4 wheel disk 5 lug conversion. thats a little more involved

so you are saying that the front disc brakes should be sufficient? and that i should change out the drum rears to discs? i know there is an advantage to doing a 5lug conversion, but isnt it mostly for wheel options? not really a performance issue?

well depends on what type of 5 lug swap you do

you can do a 5lug swap and keep drum rears (slight upgrade due to slightly larger front rotors)

you can do one that uses the sn-95 front and rear disks (upgrade)

you can do one that uses sn-95 cobra brakes (better upgrade)

or if you wanna keep 4 lug you can swap to thunder bird turbo coupe rear disks
