You have 306 cubes, an E cam, ported and polished heads. You run 102 in the quarter.

I have 302, stock cam, stock heads. Also run 102 in the quarter. How do you figure you are not leaving much if not at all?

what tires are you running @ the track. Go ask MJR, the letter cams suck they dont add anymore hp with stock heads and intake. No matter how I left the line(high revs, low revs) I didn't have any traction off the line

What do you mean by the cams suck. If they suck, why are you shifting so high?

My runs were made on a set of Dunlop SP Sports. 235 45 17. An ancient all season radial but they actually had more bite than the Kumho and the Goodyears I have now.

As for traction. If you have none, why even experiment with high rpm launches. My run were made off idle, engage the clutch and slowly squeeze the throttle.

Because the letter cams are outdated thats why they suck. You have your way of driving and he has his way of driving.

If you can't tell I already got tired of arguing with him

I wonder what your ET would be if you launched above idle...

You don't need to wonder anymore Tony. It will "only" run a 60 with a picture perfect launch. I do alot of experimenting at the track.

Nevermind the engine, tire pressures etc.

Even launch and shifting technique will offer a couple tenths in most cars.
I either start high and lower, or start low and go higher and let the timeslips tell me which direction to go.

You are probably not surprised to know anything about idle with the 235 Dunlops will just spin.

Mustangsneverdie. I'm not trying to argue with anybody. This is a technical forum and I think it's healthy to debate, compare and share different things. I hope I did not offend you or your car. In fact I was merely trying to say, there probably is more in your car. Just find the time to tune it and drive it. A lower et and a higher mph are waiting for you.

I'm assuming the only reason you launch at idle is because of the 235's? I agree that idle launches are better with sh!tty tires. My best runs were at about 1500-1800 RPM. Hopefully I can launch higher with the 275's I have on the car now. Not to mention better suspension. I haven't been to the track since I had a tired motor, stock size rubber, and stock suspension.

micky thompsons are not that expensive, and you can find extra rim's on craigslist for like $50.

why even go to the drag strip on street tires? (unless your car is stock/underpowered) I will never understand this.

just because we don't(didn't) have d/r's doesn't mean it still isn't fun
