i have a 94 mustang gt 5.0 ho with nothing more done to it than a 3 in exuast manifold back. Im having an issue of power loss under a load. i hear what sounds to be lifters tappin i need all other inputs on what u think it is. I have a thousand dollars i am spending to put in the motor my tranny is already set up and need suggestions on what i shold spend the money on was thinkin a cam kit intake but i need more thanks for all the help.
Idk really what the sound is its hard to describe but its almost like there is a loose bolt and its attlin it only does it when i get into the pedal and when it stops rattlin i loose almost all power the car falls on its face i put a new distributor and button and new plugs have fully synthetic oil in it and my girl got a conventional motor oil change and thats the history
THe power loss is what loses me. I recently had to retard my timing becuase of the same noise your having. Turned back timing just a pinch and it's fine now. I didnt experience power loss though. Try bumping you timing down a pinch and let us know if the rattling atleast goes away.
^^^ I didn't want to say anything but I was thinking the same thing, Isn't back pressure lost with a stock 5.0 by putting 3 inch all the way, which in turn loses power?
^ yeah i agree, sry not to hijack the thread but was curious what size exhaust is good for bolts ons but also will support future mods? and at what point do you need to go larger?
oh my gosh......do we really need to dispell this exhaust myth thing again, it's like beating a dead horse...backpressure...lol such a thing is for slow 5.0's
