300+ RWHP with an AODE is not hard, just takes more money. The AODE uses alot more HP than a stick trans. A set of decent heads, a good intake and the CORRECT cam will put you in the 290/300 range. You will have to beef up the trans eventually. A good stall convertor, a trans cooler and a set of 4.10's will help. A 100 shot will be the max since Ford changed to cheaper pistons in the 5.0 IN 1993/1994. My LSC has a Cobra intke, Crower cam and ported E7"s and makes about 280 RWHP with and automatic trans.

3.73's or 4.10's! I disagree with an earlier statement, you wouldn't downgrade if you put a carb on it. You can get more HP out of a carb, fuel injection just gives you better stability if its a DD. A stock bottom 302 can handle a 75-100 shot for a long time as long as it is tuned right and you dont over rev it!! It isn't HP that will kill a motor, it is RPM's! You should be able to hit 300 to the rear wheels easy just with HCI. My Silver Fox has a Holley Systemax, 65' 289 HiPo heads with 2.02's and alot of money in port work and shaved to bump comp., and a B cam, 30#'s, with a T5 and it is a killer little setup that is so dam reliable!! Hits the 300 mark easy as hell. The only thing that I want to tear out of it though is the 4.10's, I want to put a set of 3.73's in it. It is just a little steap on the street with the 245/45/17's that are on it. This is just my opinion on the gears, alot of people are hard set on 4.10's no matter the wheel size. This one is actually my favorite out of the three because I literally beat the hell out of it because I am not scared of it breaking. My other two I am a little more cautious because if I break them it would take a while to get them repaired because of all the high end parts.

4.10's with an automatic is really the best way to go for optimal performance. Your 408 probably makes so much torque you don't need that much gear.Your sliver fox is a stick which make alot of difference. The 1st gear in a T-5 is 3.35 where an AODE is 2.84. Thats why a 4.10 AODE car isn't as fast out of the gate as a 3.73 T-5 car. Multiply the above ratios and see what you get. My H/C/I Speed Density LSC gets a 1.79 60ft. with a 3500 stall and 4.10's. That 60ft is coming off the verter at 2200/2500 rpm. Lexel 10, FB Tramsmissions and Lentech all have quality parts for the trans.

ive got 275/40 18 on the rear, i wanted to do with 3.73 to be a bit more streetable since this will be a DD

I know a carb makes it less of a DD but at the moment im exploring options... I have about 6 weeks before i start buying parts and want t have my complete list ready for when i do

3.73's would then be good for a DD, espcially with your rear tire height. They are about 27" tall ? I wouldn't go higher than a 3500 stall converter for a DD. When selecting your cam,pay attention to the torque curve so you match the right converter. My Crower 15511 peaks at 3800 rpm. Too high of a stall in a DD and you will cook the trans. Don't forget a trans temp gauge and a good cooler.

I have the basic combo that's been recommended...TFS heads, TFS Stage 2 cam, Holley intake and 70 MM TB, 77 MM MAF, BBK long tubes and 30 lb. injectors. It makes 308 RWHP and 306 ft/lbs of torque and the dyno. It's a bit low compared to others because the heads were ported to go on a stroked Windsor...I need more displacement.

would my tranny bolt up to a 351w? im really leaning towards a carb 351 right now, stockish bottom end with good heads, cam, intake and be able to spray it and not worry about the block coming apart
