Boss blocks?
Im considering putting my 363 bottom end together next month some questions have arose.
First are the boss blocks good for 1000hp or do I need to spend an extra 400 on a dart?
I am using current topend vic jr heads vic efi intake and comp nx cam gemini nx 2stg kit n progressor with the probe flat tops ill be 10.8cr and 9.8cr with srp dish leaning towards dish since the nos will exceed 500 between both stages but at 11:1 with both stages how high of oct would be needed to be safe?
My cousin sprays 450 on his 355sbc at 12:1 but its a poured block not streetable.
Third has anyone used the tri armor bearings?
Thanks ahead serious replies please this is a serious thread!

^^^ don't take offense, but you really need to read up on the issues with the boss block, any stroked set up with a 3.4 crank in a boss block is a disaster waiting to happen, don't believe me....talk with strokeme over on the corral.net /woody from ford strokers, due to the shorter piston skirt of the boss block, they are having a lot of side wall issues on the stroker set ups in them as well as piston issues since special short skirt pistons must also be used, there was a thread over there about all the issues and basically he had two fresh boss blocks in his shop with compression and oil consumption issues and iirc it all stemmed from the short skirts, but ask Jim at fordstrokers and he'll tell you all you need to know to steer clear of the boss blocks

Go for the dart. even though bob kurgan runs a boss and is putting out over 1500hp i wouldnt trust it. The dart has proven its ability to take abuse for years. Why not go with ole faithful. In regards to machining any damn motor is gonna need machining and something that is gonna make around 1000hp I sure damn wouldnt be trusting a manufacturer to machine the block for exact tolerances. I would only be trusting a engine shop that does high end motor builds to machine that. Call cometic for gaskets and you will be good to go. Long as you dont lift a head and start to burn the gasket with the nitrous. Titan also makes a good set of copper gaskets for what your looking to do. The Tri armor bearings are good stuff im using them in my 9500 rpm 362ci build

I completed a 369 big bore (4.155 bore) this summer; at 10.6 compression ratio, and running premium (92/93 octane) gas. Used Cometic head gaskets to line up with the big bore, and went with the Dart SHP block. Running NA, relatively mild 223/227 duration at .050 with .610/.613 lift cam. Ended up at 425 rwhp, or about 500hp at the flywheel.

Ok I never said it came machined in a final spec! These issues are why im asking now! Therefore no offense will be taken. I have been thinking hard on the shp just to be safe... The build is about 2mths out im in the homework stage now next month parts ordering then the machining etc... I have a point to prove with some spoiled mom and pop funded egomaniacs here locally... I cant spray my stock block enough without needing a stainless firewall to get the point across...
as I find new questions ill post here and see what you guys have to offer... Thanks so far!
