Default New engine break in?

I am getting about ready to start putting my new engine together and I wanted to get some suggestions from you guys on breaking it in.

I am moving everything over from the old engine except the water pump, oil pump and the heads(and cam depending on what the current one looks like when we pull it out).

How do I go about the initial break in?

Do I go easy on it for the first 1000~2000 miles?

When can I switch over to full synthetic oil?

Thanks guys!

The way I break in every engine I build the first 500 miles I use regular dollar general sae30 driving normal, then change the oil and filter, use any brand oil after that for 2 oil changes then you can go fully sythetic.

Thats just my opinion and what i do, some just rip on in from the begining.

peoples techniques seem to be all over the place from what I have read, and I do not want to mess this up.

are there any specifics with these engines?

If I did go with a new cam, Is there a break in period for the roller cams?

if its a brand new bore and new rings. I run gibbs break in oil in it with a jomar no bypass filter. I start it up make sure its got good oil pressure and no leaks etc. Then bring it up and hold the idle at 2000-2300 for a good 30 minutes to seat the rings then take it out for a drive and run it up to about 3500-4000 but not mashing the gas just bringing it up normal driving. I never go more then half throttle for the first 250 miles. After that I say beat on it because if its gonna break it doesnt matter if you broke it in for 1 mile or 1000 miles

brand new build this was after 1 hr of break in at 2300-2500 rpm with gibbs, with a solid roller cam as well.

Then we changed the oil to 0-10w and really got at it

Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty healthy engine.
