You'll probably pick up a few horsepower and the engine will last longer.
It will run smoother at any RPM.......

thanks for all the input guys definitely gave me some things to rethink, guess I will have to wait on some of the things I want and put the money where its needed.

ok so I got a good deal on some gt40p heads will these work with no mods other than the headers I dont want piston to valve clearence problems I will be using stock internals also someone told me after all the mods I would need to upgrade or flash my computer? I know the maf will need flashed but how about the computer?

I'd look on Criagslist or e-bay and find some better heads. Edelbrock, TFS, AFR all make real nice heads.
For a 306 I'd not want to go about 185cc intake port size...........

Did you already buy the gt40's? If you've got the extra cash I would search around over on the corral for aluminum heads. They'll outflow and cut weight. As for PtV clearance, i'm pretty sure they work without any mods. I'd recommend swapping out the valve springs though

thanks DuncanGT and yes I have already bought the heads I got a deal that I couldnt pass on the gt40p's fresh from the machine shop worked along with a roller block I paid $370 for it all.
