Default 2015 GT MT82 gear lockouts

So, in addition to the intermittent grind i get going into 3rd (dealer says repeatedly they can't find a problem), I'm getting lockout issues. Whenever i try to shift with any type of expedience, regardless of engine load, i get locked out of the gear.. 3rd, 4th, haven't tried 5th, but it doesn't seem to matter which gear, its just not always willing to go into gear. The icing on the cake is that when i get locked out, if i keep the clutch in and try to re-engage the gear, i get a NASTY grind.

Any thoughts?

There is several different band-aids you can put on it, but bottom line is the MT-82 is junk. Some guys have no problems, while many experience the same things you are.

A month ago I took my 2 month old GT PP back to the dealer and traded for an auto car. Best car decision I've ever made.

What are some of the band-aids, and how well do they work?

These will be a big help. Keep in mind I don't have actual experience on an S550 for these, but have had great experience with these on previous cars.

The shifter, and bushing despite manufacturers claims will add some slight NVH.

Some guys getting improvements changing out the fluid too.

Yep just now experiencing the same issues. No lock out, but have had grinding issues going into third and transmission is very clunky. Car has less then 2000 miles on it. Going to ride it out a few more miles and take it in. Have not heard good things about this trans.

I've taken it in twice for this and both times they "couldn't replicate the issue." I have half a mind to take it in my self and go for a test drive with my service writer. But the other half of me wants to just wait until the trans drops out of the car and say, "see, i told you." But if this trans is that bad to begin with, it won't matter.

Thanks everyone!

Changing to Redline MTL, installing an MGW shifter and adding some Ford friction modifier additive specifically made for the MT82 (XL-18) really improved the shifting in my '13 GT. It's still not a quick shifter and second remains a little bit notchy, but I never hear any grinding and don't get locked out of gear anymore.

Brought mine into the dealership for the grind into 3rd. 3000 miles. No lockouts yet. Dealer tranny tech showed me the oil sample, no metal and pretty clear. Wish I would have gotten an automatic, but then my wife would want to drive it.

In my honest opinion, get whatever fix they do for you, get yourself a t6060 trans and slap it in and sell your mt82 with low miles. Otherwise if you plan on banging gears you will have nothing but problems with that garbage Chinese made gearbox.

I've noticed the same exact issues with mine. From what I read on the different sites, I thought it was normal for this tranny. If I'm getting on it, and shift quick to third, no-go. When I'm just driving extremely mild, lots of thuds, clunks, and for whatever reason, when the clutch is fully depressed, it will grind. It not all the time like a synchro is out, just occasionally. Can anyone let us know if an aftermarket shifter will solve the problem?
